10 Journal prompts to ignite your herbal passion this summer
At the beginning of each season I like to get a nice cup of tea, find a quiet space outside, and spend some time journaling about the past season, and what I’d like to experience in the next.
I find this to be a useful exercise in both my personal and professional life, because I like to focus on how I want to feel and what I want to experience each season, and then let the rest fall into place organically.
For example, if I know my goal for this season is to feel calm, I’m going to set myself up for success by making sure that I can impact my stress in the best possible way. I’ll make sure I have lots of calming sights and sounds in my workspace, prepare some sleeping remedies or recipes that will help me get the best possible sleep and make sure that I make more time to spend with my husband and our animals. And of course, lots of time in nature!
If you can start to live by the seasons, you will find that your life will be a lot more organic and flow a lot easier. We are meant to live by the seasons, naturally. We can follow a plant lifecycle to better understand this idea.
Spring Season

Summer Season
Growth, passion, and stability define this season. During summer, people actively pursue their goals, celebrate personal achievements, and experience deep fulfillment. Like nature's own season of abundance, this phase represents a peak in human productivity and accomplishment. While filled with energy and ambition, summer also offers moments for quiet reflection—both on our past experiences and our dreams for the future.

Winter Season
Like hibernation in nature, winter is a time of reflection, rest, and renewal. Our bodies naturally adapt to the cold weather and shorter days through changes in metabolism, energy levels, and sleep patterns. The "winter life cycle" represents a period when humans both physically and mentally adjust to the changing season—creating space for rest, inner reflection, and preparation for future growth and challenges.
